Kudu H.A.R.T Challenge

The Kudu H.A.R.T Challenge is a focused quest that honors two of Africa’s most admired and elusive antelope species: the Greater Kudu and the Lesser Kudu. With their majestic spiraled horns and elusive forest behavior, both species represent everything a H.A.R.Ter values: beauty, challenge, and respect for the wild.

These animals are masters of disappearing into the brush. Successfully completing this challenge means moving slowly, observing deeply, and understanding the landscape on its terms. Whether you’re chasing the Greater Kudu across open savannahs or tracking the Lesser Kudu through dense thickets, every H.A.R.T shot is earned.

What You’ll Need to Complete This Challenge

To complete the Kudu Challenge, you must verify a H.A.R.T shot on each of the two species.

Qualification Criteria

Animal Type:

Greater Kudu
Lesser Kudu
Only male animals qualify

Location:

Any region where the species naturally live or are ethically managed, including public land, private land with permission, and preserves or ranches
Qualifying locations may include native habitats in Africa or legally managed preserves elsewhere

H.A.R.T Shot Verification:

Must be completed using the H.A.R.T Shot App
Each shot may only be applied to one challenge
The challenge is selected after verification

Weapons Divisions

You may pursue this challenge using any of the official H.A.R.T weapons divisions:

Firearms Division:
Any firearm or replica that activates the H.A.R.T Shot app

H.A.R.Tchery Division:
Any bow system or faux bow compatible with the app

H.A.R.T Stick Division:
Camera-based shots designed to capture the moment without harm, in the spirit of the Native American Coup Stick tradition

Where to H.A.R.T

Land Access & Ethical Guidelines

You may H.A.R.T on:

Public land with H.A.R.T Stick only
Private land with permission
Preserves or hunting ranches

You must:

Respect local laws, travel permits, and species regulations
Never harass or pursue kudu beyond a safe and ethical distance
Use a 30–50 yard minimum distance for H.A.R.T shots
When using the H.A.R.T Stick, apply ethical wildlife photography practices

Tips for Completing the Challenge

Kudu are most active in the early morning and late afternoon

Recognition and Record-Keeping

Each verified H.A.R.T shot earns you a commemorative Patch and a place in the H.A.R.T the Hunt Record Book.

While this challenge does not qualify for a named trophy, all verified completions will be officially recognized, and you may purchase a commemorative Skullie display board to show off the Skullies you collected during the challenge.
