The African 30 H.A.R.T Challenge takes you across one of the most breathtaking and biologically diverse continents on Earth. This challenge is a true expedition, calling you into the savannas, jungles, and open plains where some of the most iconic species on the planet roam. With 30 species on the list, each encounter becomes a test of knowledge, adaptability, and respect for the natural world.

From the massive Cape buffalo to the elusive leopard, every H.A.R.T shot represents a powerful experience. This challenge isn’t about just marking off names, it’s about immersion. You’ll gain firsthand insight into Africa’s wildlife, land management practices, and the importance of conservation across cultures and continents.

For H.A.R.Ters looking to test themselves in wild, remote, and ethically complex environments, the African 30 is the adventure of a lifetime.

What You’ll Need to Complete This Challenge

To successfully complete the African 30, you’ll need to verify a H.A.R.T shot on each of the following species.

Qualification Criteria

Animal Type

Only male animals qualify for this challenge.

Antler/Horn Requirements

Animals must have both antlers or both horns if the species possesses them.

Location

Any country or region where the qualifying species naturally live or are ethically managed, including preserves and open ecosystems in Africa.

Species List

Cape Buffalo, Lion, Leopard,  Rhino, Elephant, Crocodile, Hippo, Impala, Springbok, Zebra, Eland, Waterbuck, Nyala, Bushbuck, Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Steenbuck, Kudu, Roan, Sable, Duiker, Giraffe, Reedbuck, Warthog, Klipspringer, Gemsbok, Hyena, Baboon, Blesbok, Lechwe

H.A.R.T Shot Verification

  • Must be completed using the H.A.R.T Shot App
  • Each shot can only be applied to one challenge
  • The challenge is selected after verification

Weapons Divisions

You may pursue this challenge using any of the official H.A.R.T weapons divisions:

Where to H.A.R.T

Land Access & Ethical Guidelines

This challenge may be completed in a variety of settings including:

  • Public land (where accessible) with H.A.R.T stick only
  • Private land with permission
  • Conservancies or preserves

All are acceptable and qualify for verification – what matters most is your respect for the animal and adherence to local laws.

Ethical Guidelines:

  • Follow all local and international wildlife laws and permit requirements
  • Never trespass or disturb animals beyond what is necessary
  • Use the H.A.R.T system at a safe distance of 30–50 yards
  • When using the H.A.R.T Stick, prioritize ethical photography practices

The H.A.R.T system is designed to work at a safe distance of 30–50 yards. Anything closer is discouraged unless unavoidable. Your goal should always be minimal disturbance and maximum respect.

Recognition & Record-Keeping

Each verified H.A.R.T shot earns you a place in the H.A.R.T the Hunt Record Book. Also, you will be invited to purchase and collect all the Skullies for a one-of-a-kind trophy collection.

The first person to complete the African 30 Challenge will help design the official trophy, which will carry their name.

Others who complete it will receive the award and may purchase a replica trophy.
