Design Your Hunt
You have a lot of flexibility on how you will design your hunt. It is based on many factors, not the least of which is what you want to do with your property. Use the ideas on this page to help you offer hunts on your property that H.A.R.T® hunters will want to enjoy!
Basic
This option could be as simple as leasing days or weeks on your property. For example, let’s say that you have one hundred acres and that you’re charging “X” dollars per day. The hunter is paying a trespass fee to have access to your land for their hunt. It doesn’t require anything else from the landowner other than charging a trespass fee.
Add More Options
You can step up your offering by adding:
- Planting food plots
- Clearing brush shooting lanes
- Setting up stands
- Hunting blinds
- Sectioning to allow multiple hunters
The service can range from basic daily access to your property to hunts that provide lodging and/or food. You can have a place for them to pitch a tent or park an RV. If you have a bunkhouse or cabin you could rent it out, with or without meals . Meal options can be from one meal to three meals a day or have the pantry stocked for the guests to prepare their own meals at their leisure..
Full Service
This is truly the option for the ultimate H.A.R.T® Hunt experience. It is only limited by your creativity and ability to provide the elements of this hunting adventure.
Some ideas on what to include:
- Guides
- Gun safety course
- Wildlife attraction strategies in place
- Top-tier meals
- Night-time activities
- Afternoon adventures (Fishing, horseback riding, etc.)
- Shooting range
Develop Your Property
You can work with the local extension office or with a land management company to develop a plan to enhance your property and its wildlife resources. The key here is to increase the quality of wildlife that you have on your property and enhance the facilities you have in place to make the hunting experience the best it can be.
Things to Consider
You will want to make sure that you have insurance in place with the right coverages. You will have recreational guests on your property. It’s also important that you have the right legal language in your contract so you are covered from a legal standpoint. These are things that help protect you and your clients and ensure a memorable experience for everyone.
